“Survivor" and “X Factor” Executive Producer Announces The US Launch Of Motto Dots, Introduce The World To The First Purpose-Driven Social Network
Led by Juan Pablo Gaviria, veteran television producer/director and recipient of About.com’s 2013 Best Game & Best Educational App award, the Motto Dots team have developed a platform to generate positive change through its users and the world.
Available for free through the App Store, the unique platform gives users a fun space — a “dot” — to write an inspirational phrase and share it through a number of social networks. Users can write phrases that inspire them, their friends, their family and anyone else looking to cause positive change.
To share their thoughts, users need only log onto the app through their mobile device and choose from fully customizable dots within a number of categories — including “Today I Will”, “My mother used to say”, “My work motto”, and “My life motto”. Once the message is written users can personalize the font, choose a particular color of the dot, add a background picture to their message and make the words pop from the screen with a number of dynamic designs.
The messages can then be shared on the network’s own mobile platform, or through Twitter, Instagram and Facebook to increase the phrase’s reach.
“The core of the app is in its driving ideology: create positive change within ourselves and in turn inspire others around us to change,” says Motto Dots founder Juan Pablo Gaviria. “We wanted to make a platform that wasn’t only for connecting with people or to vent worries and frustrations, but engage a worldwide community into taking positive actions,” he explains.
The shared phrases on the platform, Mr Gaviria adds, can range from a personal goal for the day to hard-hitting messages advocating global social change.
“Is there something you can do today to be a better person? Share it and let other people see the world from your perspective,” Mr Gaviria says.
Motto Dots also allows users to fluidly search for inspiring phrases through the different categories from the platform’s growing international community. Like other social networking platforms, users can customize their profile, monitor activity, and add hashtags to their phrases.
The exponential increase of social media networks, and its effects on our everyday lives, make the digital platforms some of the most effective for sharing content and ideas. According to the Pew Research Center Internet Project, 74% of all online adults in the United States use social networking sites. With this increasing market in mind, the team at Motto Dots seek to place a new perspective on using this medium as a purely purpose-driven network with a focused positive idea.
To compliment this view, and according to Virginia Tech University, 80% of people do not have defined goals in their life.
“The penetration of social media into people’s lives is one of the most valuable resources in the digital sphere, something to be used beyond just marketing and communication,” Mr Gaviria explains. “The Motto Dots platform invites people to question their purpose, their day or week, and make a change. A simple phrase may just cause a positive life-altering thought for someone,” he says.
The increasing role that social media has on our daily lives make the platforms an adequate medium to spark not only awareness of issues, news, and injustices, but also cause actual change in its users. With this platform as the foundation, Motto Dots also counts with real-life social work through its affiliated foundation of the same name to create actual and meaningful changes.
The Motto Dots team have turned to creative empowerment of people that, through a simple phrase, attractively presented through its iPhone mobile app, can work towards creating that meaningful change that many want to achieve.

CREATIVE WRITERS REJOICE: WRITE IT! VERSUS ARRIVES IN APP STORE
Bogota, Colombia, (January 22, 2013) – 360 Digital Co. releases their first app, Write It! Versus, to the Apple App Store today. It’s a writing game similar to those note passing games straight out of junior high classrooms. But instead of a teacher snatching the story away and reading it aloud in front of the whole class, the story can be broadcast over multiple social media networks for the entire world to see! Write It! Versus encourages creative note passing without the embarrassment or fear of getting caught. In fact, the creators want people to share what they’ve written.“We can guarantee that our Patent Pending System for Story Generation and Creative Stimulation will get you writing amazing phrases and having lots of fun with your friends in no time. It’s like the “Who’s Line is it Anyway” for apps. We want people to use it as a creative tool for collaborative storytelling.”
A player is given a random title and up to three words to use in a Tweet-friendly blurb. Points and coins are awarded based on how fast a story blurb is created and how many of the words are used. The opponent can then rate the story submission for more points and pick up the story where it leaves off using three new words.
There is an evil, egotistical teacher named Mr. Sharks in there too. No need to hide the stories though―the higher the score, the faster a player becomes a Master Storyteller capable of defeating Mr. Sharks. In addition to Mr. Sharks, there is a cast of other colorful, friendlier, characters to help guide a player through the game.
The app also features elaborate social media integration to encourage players to share their stories, ideas, jokes, and mess ups with their friends on Twitter, Facebook, or Tumblr. Title suggestions and words can also be pulled from the Twittersphere to make stories current or trendy. And since each turn only allows a player to write 140 characters or less, the next viral Tweet could be sent through cyberspace from this game.
“It’s a one-of-a-kind, captivating blend of beautiful graphics, yet addictive style gameplay catered to casual gamers, creative writers, or anyone that wants to write, and does not know were to start. No writing skills are required, but if you are serious about storytelling, creative writing or song writing this is also a great tool for you. It’s not just entertainment, its ‘edutainment.’”
